In 2005, a client of GLF was accused of sexual abuse towards one of his children. The state wanted him to be registered as a sex offender. GLF was retained. Jessie Glenn was the lead attorney on the file. The firms lead paralegal was assigned to this case.
Despite taking a polygraph test in which two licensed polygraph examiners concluded that there was no deception present when our client said that he never sexually abused his child the state still pursued our client. Almost three years had past with our client not being able to have any contact with his children; no phone calls, no Christmas cards, and no visitation. The states expert concluded that the child was not sexually abused but was coached to report such abuse because of the ongoing child custody dispute that was taking place when the allegations first incurred.
After two years of legal battles, several motions, and depositions, our client’s name was finally cleared, and he has recently received custody of his minor children. This case was truly one of the firm’s proudest accomplishments.
“Its easy to become emotionally involved in a case of this magnitude where many lives are touched. Over the years there were numerous occasions when we had nothing to give but bad news to our client. Finally the day came when we were able to contact our client and advise that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. In a matter of days, the judge had ordered a change of custody and awarded full custody to our client. The hugs and tears on this joyful day will never be forgotten”, says Lee Stewart as the lead paralegal on this file.
When our client was wrongfully accused of such a crime, and was denied the right to as much as even speak with his children, every member of GLF was outraged by what was taking place and worked hard to get our client custody of his children and to see to it that he was not going to be placed on a registry of sex offenders.
In June, 2007 our client was reunited with his children and was allowed to take his children home with him. “This case truly touched my heart, in a way that I could never have imagined possible…it was one of the proudest moments in my life and legal career as a man who has compassion for others.” acclaims Jessie Glenn.
